Esalen® Massage — The Basics

Esalen Massage Einführungkurse, Introductions to Esalen Massage

A four-day introductory workshop taught by Lance Weihmuller and Mac Murphy

This workshop is part of the wider EMGV program and unfolds within the shared rhythm of the week.

For those who wish to continue, this workshop is also recognized as Module 1 for the Esalen Massage training at Kientalerhof beginning in autumn.

It offers a clear and grounded introduction to Esalen Massage — the art of listening through touch.

Lance and Mac will guide you step by step, sharing the foundations of presence, rhythm, and mindful movement. Step by step, you will learn the fundamental Esalen Massage techniques: the long, integrating strokes in prone and supine positions. At the table, we focus on body mechanics, grounding, and flow.
We also explore detailed touch work and complementary techniques that refine sensitivity and expand the natural intelligence of the hands.
Through guided practice and feedback, the teaching team supports each participant in developing confidence, presence, and flow.

As part of the Global Village Gathering, participants are invited to join all community offerings — early morning meditation, movement sessions, and evening programs — creating a rare opportunity to experience learning within the full field of the international Esalen Massage community.

This course forms one complete four-day journey within the Global Village program and can only be booked as a full workshop.

You are warmly invited to enter this circle of learning and connection — where touch becomes language, and presence becomes practice.
